Ajax EN54 FireProtect (VAD) Jeweller

FireProtect (VAD) Jeweller is a wireless visual alarm device (VAD) that complies with the European fire safety standards EN 54-23 and EN 54-25, as well as the Radio Equipment Directive RED (2014/53/EU). The device uses Ajax's robust Jeweller radio protocol for a reliable and secure connection to the EN54 Fire Hub control panel or via Fire ReX.

Visual alarm (VAD)

• The device signals an alarm visually using an LED frame that flashes in a 90 ms on / 1,910 ms off pattern, with a cycle period of 2,000 ms (0.5 Hz).

• Particularly suitable for noisy environments or areas where sound carries poorly, such as wide corridors, large rooms and ice rinks, or to ensure the safety of people with hearing impairments.

Audible signal

• The VAD relies on visual signalling and does not include an audible alarm (unlike the Sounder/VAD model).

Communication and security

• Uses the Jeweller radio protocol, which provides two-way communication and automatic frequency hopping to avoid interference.

• Communication range of up to 1,700 m in open space; also compatible with the Fire ReX range extender.

• Automatic tamper protection and AES encryption keep the system secure.

• Powered by 4 × CR123A batteries, pre-installed, with a battery life of up to 5 years.
