Ajax FireProtect 2 RB (Heat/Smoke/CO)
Main features
Identification
-
Smoke detector: a dual-spectrum optical sensor detects smoke particles and filters out smoke and ordinary water vapour. The device uses Ajax’s proprietary smoke detection algorithm and dustproof smoke chamber wheel.
-
Heat sensor (Class A1R thermistors): detects a sustained temperature rise above ~64 °C or a rapid rise (>10 °C) within a minute.
Detection of carbon monoxide (CO)
-
Chemical CO sensor detects*:
-
50 ppm (0.005 %) – for a maximum of 90 min.
-
100 ppm (0.01 %) – up to 40 minutes
-
300 ppm (0.03 %) – in about 3 min
-
400 ppm (0.04 %) is life-threatening within 3 hours.
-
-
Sensor lifetime up to 10 years after installation.
Power supply and lifetime
-
Powered by two CR123A batteries (1600 mAh), which are replaceable.
-
A low-battery warning is sent at least 30 days in advance, both via the device’s LED alert and the Ajax app.
-
According to the standard, the overall lifetime of the device is 10 years, after which it is recommended to replace the sensor.
Alarm signal and connection
-
The built-in siren operates at ~85 dB (measured at a distance of 3 m), with different sound types to distinguish smoke, heat or CO alarms.
-
When one sensor detects a threat, all other FireProtect sensors connected to the system are automatically activated for up to 20 seconds – even when the hub is offline.
-
The sensor communicates with the Ajax Hub via a two-way Jeweller protocol, with a connection distance of up to ~1700 m in open areas.
Design and installation
-
Dimensions: ~124 × 124 × 45 mm, weight ~ 275 g
-
For indoor installation only. Recommended for installation directly in the centre of the ceiling or in a suitable location using the SmartBracket screw base. One sensor covers an area of ~50-60 m²; in corridors it is recommended to install at intervals of up to 7.5 m.
-
When installing, avoid luminaires, spacers and details that could obstruct detection.
Advantages, functions and maintenance
-
The device can be tested manually using the Test/Mute button on the front panel or remotely using the Ajax app.
-
Automatic monitoring and maintenance; allows monitoring of connectivity, faults and EOL alerts through the app. Monthly test recommended.
